VFW Post #17 is one of the oldest posts in the nation. Proud to have been around for so many years, and also proud to have been a part of caring for, and working for, the needs of our past and present veteran members, as well as the present active service members.

Our number one goal is to serve all these members. But as time goes on and we lose members to age, we also need new, younger members to help fulfil our gouals.

Please consider becoming a VFW member; of this post, or any post near you.

- Al Waltman

Commander, VFW post #17

Aberdeen, SD 57401

Located at 821 Circle Drive (behind the auto-plaza), in Aberdeen, CC Croal post #17 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars owns and operates the building that has become the post home for many of the other veterans groups in Aberdeen.  The organization is dedicated to helping the cause of all veterans, with a particular focus on the men and women who have served overseas in combat zones.

For imformation on membership, or just to look at the memorabilia cabinets and/or relax with other veterans, stop out to the post canteen, open Monday through Saturday starting at 1:30pm.  If the quartermaster and commander aren't present, the bar staff can take down you name and number and you will be contacted.

"There is a common bond that exists between the men and women who have shared the military experience in battle: A shared sense of duty and a common belief in a cause higher than self. Our nations' veterans chose to serve and by doing so, assumed all the risks associated with maintaining freedom. VFW members are here because they understand the true essence of America and its ideals and beliefs and the price they paid to be eligible to join the ranks of the VFW."  (Taken from www.VFW.org)
